Party Ideas: Luau

Aloha! For your very own slice of island paradise, think cocktails with umbrellas, palm trees, flower garlands… think Luau party!

Colour is key when it comes to tropical islands, so think of lime greens, turquoise blues, hot pink, sunny yellows and orange. Balloons, streamers, hibiscus flowers, home made flower garlands, fish nets and blow up beach balls will really set the scene. Paddling pools and maybe even a bucket and spade will give it that little bit extra. No Luau is quite complete without the Beach Boys or Bob Marley playing in the background.

Whatever you are drinking, add paper umbrellas, cherrys and sliced pineapple on toothpicks and even hollow out coconuts for glasses!

Hoola Hoop contests and doing the  limbo on the Disco Dome Jumping Castle will really get everyone in the mood. For the cherry on top, make your own pinata and fill it with goodies for your guests!

Party Ideas: 80s

Break out your shoulder pads, leg warmers and big hair!

Anything goes for invitations but for decorations, think neon pinks, greens and yellows. Hang old posters of 80′s icons like Madonna, Rocky, Pacman, Micheal Jackson and Boy George on the walls. Neon fringed banners, bean bag chairs and karaoke will go down a treat! Don’t forget about the Rubic’s cube and vinyl records! Add to the atmosphere with your 80′s tunes playing in the background – everyone loves a bit of Duran Duran and Paula Abdul.

Eat cheesy popcorn, liquorice shoelaces, spicy chicken wings, mini meatballs and the all important cheese and pineapple hedgehog.

The Disco Dome Jumping Castle will add to the 80′s flavour and spice up the evening’s entertainment. There is nothing quite like bouncing to the beat of Abba and Blondie.

Party Ideas: Survivor

You don’t have to eat slugs and spiders to make this party one to remember.

The invitations can be printed on scroll type paper – stain white paper with used teas bags for that worn effect.

When the guests arrive, get them to pull different bandannas out of a box (have about three or four different coloured bandannas depending on how many guests are due to come). Each bandanna has a team name on it – something like “Wallabies”, “Koalas”, “Kangaroos” and “Dingos”. Teams will then be divided according to their bandanna colour and names and will be set for the challenges!

Some of the challenges can include:

  • Race for the Rainbow – Equipped with a plastic bag, each team has to find an object or anything that matches the colours of the rainbow to put in their plastic bag. The team that finds the most colours the quickest – wins!
  • Ultimate Endurance – Each guest has to hop one-legged on the jumping castle for as long as possible – the person that lasts the longest wins!
  • Race for Comfort – Sit everyone in a circle on the jumping castle on cushions. The music is played and the survivors move around the circle – this is when you will take one cushion away. When the music stops, the survivors will try and sit on a cushion but when will be left standing. He/she is then sent off the “island”.

The Disco Dome Jumping Castle is a true survivor and will be a hit at your party.
